The Parable of the Talents

Today’s gospel reminds us that we were given either one, two or five talents to use, share and improve.

Have you recognized your talent? Do you know what you are good at? My friend here whispers: she is good in eating. Or maybe you love music but music doesn’t loves you. Though you may achieve anything you want, however, it will require a lot of effort. Talent is something that you can achieve, perform or execute that requires you minimal amount of effort. Maybe you can pause for a few minutes or later before you sleep, think of something you can do that you are good at. We only need one idea to change your life.

We need to focus on what we have instead of looking into what we don’t have. It doesn’t matter if we were only given with one talent, its about how we use it. The attitude that we need to develop is to be grateful for whatever we have and be excited for the things to come.

In business, do you know why do some companies fail? It is because they tried to do a lot of things, expand very fast and forget their core competency in the process. They have incurred a lot of expenses without meeting their required return. It is then that they will go back to their basics, doing something they are good at.

We can share either of these three to others: our time, talent or treasure. The moment your share your talent with others, it will surely return to you in hundred-folds. You will also start to receive feedback that will enable you to improve your talent. With that, you will become better and better. The claps that you will hear after your performance for example, will motivate you to think on how can you do it better.

With your talent, you can make your life better or worse. The choice is always yours. Recognize, share, innovate with your talent and life will reward you.
